Performance and driveability
Four electric motors (one per wheel), each with its own 2-speed gearbox, produce 587 PS and 1,164 Nm. The G 580 reaches 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds despite weighing over 3 tonnes. Virtual differential locks via torque vectoring replace the mechanical lockers of the ICE G-Class. The unique 'G-Turn' function rotates the car 360 degrees on the spot like a tank.
Interior and features
Dual 12.3-inch MBUX displays, augmented reality HUD, dual 11.6-inch rear screens, Burmester 3D sound (18 speakers, 760W, Dolby Atmos), ventilated and massaging front seats, 3-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, and the 'G-Roar' feature that synthesises V8 engine sound complete the premium cabin.
Who should buy
The G-Class Electric is for buyers who want an icon — the legendary G-Wagon in zero-emission form. It retains the boxy silhouette, off-road credentials, and premium cabin while adding instant electric torque and the unique G-Turn capability. Nothing else on sale in India offers this combination.
