Q. Is the BMW i4 price in India competitive in the premium electric sedan space, or does the Model 3 Performance offer more range and features for less?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The i4 justifies its premium through BMW's driving dynamics philosophy — it feels more like a driver's sports sedan than any Tesla, with communicative steering and a chassis that's actively tuned for engagement. The Model 3 Performance offers more software features and a larger Supercharger network for highway trips. For buyers who want an electric car that drives like a BMW (not just a tech gadget), the i4 makes a strong case; for pure technology and charging convenience, Tesla has practical advantages.

Q. For daily Bengaluru or Pune use of 60–80 km per day, does the BMW i4's real-world range hold up or does charging anxiety creep in?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The i4 eDrive40's claimed 590+ km range translates to 400–480 km in real Indian mixed-use conditions — more than enough for a week of 60–80 km daily urban driving without charging. For typical urban use, a weekend home charge via a BMW Wallbox keeps range anxiety entirely off the table. Highway trips need planning around BMW-compatible DC fast chargers, which are growing but not as ubiquitous as urban Level 2 charging. For daily urban use, the i4 is genuinely worry-free.

Q. Does the i4's Gran Coupe body style compromise rear-seat practicality compared to a standard sedan EV — is rear headroom a real concern?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The i4's coupe roofline reduces rear headroom slightly for passengers over 6 feet, but legroom is genuinely generous for a car of this size. Most adults under 5'11" find the rear comfortable for journeys up to 2 hours. The sloping body creates a low rear window that can feel slightly claustrophobic for rear occupants, but the panoramic roof (optional) helps significantly. For couples or families with children in the rear, the compromise is minor; for regularly carrying tall adults, it's worth factoring in.

Q. Should an Indian buyer choosing between the BMW i4 and Mercedes EQE or Audi e-tron GT focus on charging infrastructure or driving character as the deciding factor?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
All three are compelling, but the deciding factor should be charging ecosystem if you travel frequently between cities, and driving character if city use dominates. The e-tron GT is the most visually dramatic; the EQE has the most technology-forward cabin; the i4 drives the most like a traditional performance BMW. In India's current charging landscape, Tesla Superchargers and third-party DC fast chargers support all three — the i4 and e-tron GT use CCS2, which is becoming the dominant Indian standard.

Q. What does 3-year ownership cost for the BMW i4 in India look like — is electric maintenance genuinely cheaper than comparable petrol BMWs?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
Yes, meaningfully so — i4 annual service costs at BMW EV ASS run ₹15,000–₹30,000 (no oil, no spark plugs, no traditional drivetrain consumables). Home charging costs approximately ₹1.50–₹2 per km at domestic electricity rates versus ₹7–9 per km for petrol in a comparable 3 Series. Tyre wear is slightly higher due to EV weight and instant torque, but the overall ownership cost advantage over a petrol 3 Series is approximately ₹80,000–₹1,50,000 annually. Battery warranty (8 years/1,60,000 km) provides peace of mind.
