Jeep Meridian Engine and Performance
Positives:
This 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo-diesel engine makes 186bhp/350Nm and its clatter is well-masked inside and the vibrations on the steering are minimal.
Although 168bhp may not sound much, it powers this 1.8-tonne vehicle easily; accelerating from zero to 100kmph in 10.8 seconds (claimed).
The nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox works well with this engine, offering smooth gearshifts.
Independent front and rear suspension and Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) flatten road imperfections with confidence and perfection.
It is not challenging to drive despite being lengthy, even on reasonably curvy roads, due to the precise and effortless steering.
The 4x4 hardware exemplifies its capabilities, along with 203mm ground clearance, 18-inch wheels and competent approach, departure, and break-over angles.
Negatives:
Not a quick automatic transmission as there's a slight delay in downshifting gears under heavy acceleration and using manual mode makes sense.

Jeep Meridian Convenience and Technology
Positives:
Its affordable five-seater base model has 670 litres of boot space and 60:40 folding rear seats to expand capacity.

The 2025 model has a more feature-loaded top-end ‘Overland’ version, which is equipped with Level-2 ADAS functionalities.

Its soft-touch materials, good quality plastic, and comfortable electrically-operated seats with ventilation enhance comfort levels.

There's a 10.1-inch infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is easy to navigate through and is well integrated into the dashboard for ease of use.
It also gets a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel with bright colour graphics, which looks premium.
The Alpine sound system sounds good, there's a wireless charging pad, along with Type-A and Type-C charging ports in the front.

Negatives:
The base model does not get a sunroof and misses out on other features like ventilated front seats and wireless charging.
The Meridian could have been equipped with rear window sunblinds for better passenger comfort.
The charging port in the second row is limited to a Type-A only (no Type-C port) and there are no ports for third-row occupants.
The third-row seats are best for children and can accommodate adults only for small journeys.
Jeep Meridian Safety
Positives:
The top-end ‘Overland’ variant comes with an ADAS suite with 10 plus safety features like Lane Keep Assist and Collision Mitigation braking.
All versions get six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and electronic roll mitigation.
There is an electronic parking brake, all-passenger seatbelt alert, front driver and passenger detection system, 360-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring.
Negatives:
Although the Jeep Meridian has not been tested by the NCAP safety authorities, it is based on the Compass which scored five stars in the NCAP crash test.

Q. Is the Jeep Meridian price in India justified for a 7-seater SUV, or is it just a stretched Compass with a premium markup?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
While the Meridian shares its platform with the Compass, the justification lies in the engineering. Jeep recalibrated the suspension for better high-speed stability and gave it a more sophisticated cabin with higher-grade materials. At ₹25–38 lakh, you are paying for a more refined highway cruiser that handles rough Indian terrains with much more poise than the Toyota Fortuner, even if it lacks the Fortuner's raw power.

Q. For a family doing 50 km daily in Bengaluru's heavy traffic, does the Meridian's automatic gearbox return acceptable mileage?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The Meridian Diesel AT returns 8–11 km/l in heavy city traffic, which is typical for a 2-tonne SUV. On the highway, efficiency climbs to 14–16 km/l. If your daily commute is primarily urban, fuel costs will be significant. The Meridian is designed for long-distance touring; its real value is in the ride quality and safety it provides during weekend trips to places like Coorg or Chikmagalur.

Q. Does the Meridian's third row offer genuine adult comfort for long trips, or is it strictly for children?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The third row is best described as "child-friendly." Adults under 5'6" can manage short city hops, but for anything over an hour, the high floor and low seat base will lead to discomfort. However, with the third row folded, you get a massive 481 litres of boot space, making it a stellar 5-seater with room for a week’s worth of family luggage

Q. How does the Meridian’s Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) suspension help on broken Indian roads compared to its rivals?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
Jeep’s FSD suspension is a standout feature; it mechanically adjusts the damping force based on the road surface. On smooth highways, it stays firm for stability, but the moment you hit a "pothole-ridden" patch, it softens to absorb the impact. This gives the Meridian a "magic carpet" ride quality that body-on-frame SUVs like the Fortuner or Scorpio-N simply cannot match.
By SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
Q. What should a Meridian owner budget for annual maintenance after the initial service packages expire?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
Annual maintenance typically runs between ₹18,000 and ₹25,000 for routine service (oil, filters, and labor). While higher than a mass-market SUV, it is competitive within the premium segment. The bigger "expert note" is to ensure your insurance includes "Engine Protect" and "Zero Dep," as the 2.0L Multijet engine and high-tech electronics can be expensive to repair out-of-pocket if damaged by water or accidents.
