Q. As the final internal combustion engine (ICE) car from Lotus, does the Emira prioritize raw driving feel or has it become too "civilized" for the brand?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The Emira is the perfect bridge between the raw, spartan Lotuses of the past and a more usable future. While it features a much-improved interior with 12-way power seats and a KEF sound system, the mechanical "soul" remains intact. It still utilizes a hydraulic steering rack—a rarity in 2026—offering a level of tactile feedback through the steering wheel that modern electric-power-steering rivals from Porsche can't match.

Q. Between the 3.5L V6 and the 2.0L i4 engine options, which is better suited for the high-temperature, stop-and-go traffic of Indian metros?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder (sourced from AMG) is arguably more practical for urban India. It features a modern 8-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) that handles traffic much more smoothly than the V6’s manual or older torque-converter automatic. Additionally, the i4's cooling package is highly efficient, making it slightly more resilient during the peak 45°C Indian summers.

Q. Is the Emira's ground clearance manageable for daily use in cities like Mumbai or Delhi?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
With a ground clearance of approximately 125mm, the Emira is "usable" but requires caution. It does not feature a dedicated nose-lift system, so approaching steep basement ramps or large speed breakers at an angle is mandatory. However, its suspension is surprisingly compliant; it doesn't "crash" over minor road imperfections, making it a more viable daily driver than the older Evora.

Q. How does the Emira's "First Edition" trim justify its premium over the standard models?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The First Edition comes "fully loaded" with the Lower Black Pack, ultra-lightweight V-spoke forged alloy wheels, and the Drivers Pack (which allows you to choose between a 'Tour' or 'Sport' suspension setup). For an Indian buyer, the 'Tour' setup is highly recommended as it provides the necessary "give" for real-world road conditions without sacrificing the car's legendary cornering ability.

Q. What is the "hidden" maintenance advantage of the Emira's Toyota-sourced V6 engine?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The 3.5L V6 is famously robust and shares some core components with widely available Toyota architectures. While the car itself requires specialized Lotus service, the engine's mechanical reliability and the global availability of basic parts (like filters or sensors) make long-term ownership much less daunting than a more "exotic" Italian powertrain.
