Hyundai Ioniq 5 Clear Doubts

Q. With the Hyundai Ioniq 5 price in India at ₹44.95–46.05 lakh, is it actually competitive or is the import markup making it impractical?

SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM May 2026

At its current pricing, the Ioniq 5 is harder to justify purely on value — Tata's XEV 9e offers comparable Indian-market range and features at ₹22–30 lakh. The Ioniq 5's case rests on 800V ultra-fast charging (10–80% in 18 minutes), Vehicle-to-Load technology, superior global software ecosystem, and Hyundai's EV brand confidence. For buyers to whom the charging speed difference matters daily: the premium can be justified.

Q. What real-world range does the Ioniq 5 deliver in India — and does the 800V charging live up to the hype?

SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM May 2026

The 72.6 kWh rear-drive variant delivers 380–420 km real-world mixed driving. City AC use drops this to 330–360 km. The 800V charging genuinely delivers: 10–80% in under 20 minutes at a 350kW+ DC charger. In India, finding 350kW chargers is the current constraint — but Hyundai's Charzone network and third-party expansion is rapidly improving.

Q. Does the Ioniq 5's futuristic interior actually hold up in Indian daily use — the sliding console and bistro feel?

SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM May 2026

The sliding centre console is a genuinely useful feature for Indian traffic — it can be moved flat to allow easier left-right movement within the cabin. The flat floor (no transmission tunnel) creates a genuinely spacious, lounge-like feel. AR HUD, 12-inch dual screen, and Vehicle-to-Load (power appliances from the car) are features that generate daily appreciation, not just showroom impressions.

Q. Ioniq 5 or Mercedes EQA for a Delhi buyer spending ₹45–50 lakh on an electric premium SUV?

SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM May 2026

Mercedes EQA offers the three-pointed star's social currency and stronger resale in the luxury segment. Ioniq 5 offers superior range (380 km vs EQA's 300 km), faster charging (800V vs EQA's standard), and a more technologically progressive ownership experience. For brand-statement buyers: EQA. For technology-focused EV enthusiasts: Ioniq 5 is the smarter spec.

Q. How does Hyundai support Ioniq 5 owners in India — especially for battery health and software updates?

SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM May 2026

Hyundai India offers dedicated Ioniq EV service bays at major authorised service centres with trained EV technicians. OTA updates are delivered regularly — Ioniq 5 owners globally report meaningful feature improvements post-purchase. 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty. The Bluelink app provides real-time battery health monitoring, pre-conditioning, and charging management — genuinely useful for daily management.
