Q. Why was the "Continental Flying Spur" such a game-changer for Bentley in India?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
It was the first "Modern" Bentley sedan. It offered 4WD, a reliable W12 engine, and a level of daily usability that the older Arnage couldn't match. It made Bentley a "daily driver" brand in India. Many of the Flying Spurs you see in Delhi and Mumbai today are this generation, proving how robust the mechanicals are if maintained well.

Q. Is it worth buying a high-mileage Continental Flying Spur in 2026?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
Only if it has a meticulous service history. The W12 engine is bulletproof, but the "Vacuum Lines" and "Air Suspension" are known to fail after 10–12 years. Replacing these can be "engine-out" jobs, which are very expensive. However, if you find a clean example, it offers ₹5 crore worth of luxury for the price of a new Fortuner, making it a tempting "entry-level" exotic.

Q. What is the "Speed" version of this generation?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
The Flying Spur Speed (introduced in 2008) upped the power to 600 bhp and lowered the suspension. It was the first Bentley sedan to hit 200 mph (322 km/h). It is distinguished by its "Dark Chrome" grille and wider exhaust tips. For a performance-oriented buyer, the "Speed" is the one to hunt for in the used market.

Q. How is the "Technology" in this older Flying Spur?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
It shows its age. The infotainment system is based on an old VW platform and feels very dated. Most Indian owners upgrade the head unit to a modern "Apple CarPlay" compatible touchscreen. However, the physical switches—the "Organ Stop" vent controls and the knurled metal—still feel more premium than almost any modern car.

Q. Does this car share parts with the VW Phaeton, and does that make it cheaper to fix?
SIX BUY AND SELL TEAM • Apr 2026
It does share some "under-the-skin" components like the AWD system and some suspension parts. While you can't exactly fix a Bentley at a VW service center, a knowledgeable independent specialist can often source "OEM" parts at a fraction of the "Bentley-branded" price, making it one of the more "affordable" super-luxury cars to keep on the road.
